I am working with the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation - TBC in the capacity of radio and television journalist. My routine duties are to write and compile news bulletins which include a wide range of computer usage. This includes searching news from various sources including World Wide Web - WWW. Journalism as a profession passed through various technological advancements of gathering, writing and disseminating news to the targeted group that is the society. Technological changes include the use of tools and how means to disseminate news. Those changes include the use of the old typing machine the incunabula, typriter with various versions, fax, telephones, and computers with the recent technology such as the net where the world became a village. Information technology change every day as we observe various computer programmes, changes in the IT and so forth. Journalism as a profession can not avoid those changes and that is why TBC sent me to attend this programme for the betterment of the organization, mine and the society which I serve.
WHAT WE COVERED YESTERDAY.
We had discussed on how the internet has changed the society.
Information technology has big influence to the society regarding that no society can exist without communication. The world underwent various changes economically, socially, culturally and other aspects that touch the society. Information technology with the help of internet has simplified the way of life where as people can communicate within a short time. People now can surf the internet to get various information including news, business, travelling, banking, library and other social interactions. The world society has changed with the influence of global village phenomena where as people adopt new ways of life coping from one society to another though the use of internet.
MY SUGGESTION.
We need to learn more on Information Technology because the technology changes every day regarding that Tanzanians are quite illiterate to Information Technology compared to neighbour countries such as KENYA and UGANDA.
